At New Zealand Adventure Co., we view sustainable tourism practices as a three way partnership.
"I count on you as ambassadors for sustainable tourism and as responsible
individual tourists to give tourism and the destinations the future they deserve."
- Nico Visser (promoter of the concept "destination for generations")
The first party in this partnership; New Zealand Adventure Co., is wholly responsible for the careful qualification of product that we promote and sell in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.
The second is our in-country partners that have been thoughtfully selected because of their proven commitment to to the environment, respect and integration of local cultures and the active minimization of negative impacts on the natural world.
The third partner in the equation is you; our client. Without your active participation in environmental and social ambassadorship, our dedication to the preservation and conservation of the magnificent countries we represent and sell is in vain.
Respecting the local environment by treating New Zealand, Australia and Fiji as you would your own home.
If you are happy with a smaller, more efficient operating rental vehicle, this is what we will include in your vacation package. We generally do not include large CC rated vehicles unless you have a specific request for such or your travelling party size dictates.
Trying to reuse plastic bags and containers.
If your accommodation has a policy to minimize laundering of towels and sheets, try to support it. (Many of our partner properties do have this policy in place.)
Remembering to turn off electrical switches when not using them or leaving your room for the day.
Respecting the local culture and traditions. Examples include asking permission before taking someone's picture; being sensitive to cultural differences in language, custom and dress and learning a few words in the local language, particularly in Fiji - "Bula Vinaka" means "Hello"!
Staying on the marked hiking tracks at all times. All of the countries New Zealand Adventure Co. works with have comprehensive conservation programs and we appreciate your support of these.
Tuning into the sounds of nature with all of your senses. New Zealand, Australia and Fiji have some of the most unique and wonderful wildlife in the world and your appreciation for these environments will develop in to an awe-inspired respect.
What does it mean to be an environmentally and socially responsible ambassador? Many of you are already ambassador's. It's the simple choices you make when you travel such as:

Can you imagine - really imagine what the area you live in will be like 50 to 100 years from now?
Will the natural surroundings remain essentially intact? Will wildlife continue to fill the air with the sounds of nature and sightings of the wild and wonderful creatures with whom we share the earth? Will the hike that you took the other day look the same - have the same vegetation; the same tinkering birdsong? At New Zealand Adventure Co., it is our firm intention to provide you with an environmentally sensitive experience that reflects the strong desire that we have for our children and yours to delight in the world we have now - not a pale, exhausted version of it.
The owners and staff at New Zealand Adventure Co. are intimately familiar with the outdoor environments of the countries we sell and we seek to protect them. Our approach to sustaining the earth's natural resources is not limited to our professional life; the owners of NZAC practice what we preach on a very real level every day. Our environmental ethos, tying in with sustainable tourism, is at the heart of New Zealand Adventure Co. and the family that owns and operates it.

At New Zealand Adventure Co., we are acutely aware that the role we must fulfill daily needs to be one of proactive participation in providing a sustainable tourism product. We do not promote any activity that doesn't stack up on the ecological protection front. Our focus is on the vital need to give back more that we take. Preserving cultural heritage and the fierce protection of the natural world is our real and urgent concern.
