PRESIDENT'S BIO

Karen Pettit is a seventh generation Kiwi who was born in Dunedin, New Zealand, on the South Island's south east coast.  A veteran of the tourism industry, Karen 'cut her teeth' in adventure tourism working for white water rafting and heritage tourism outfitters in Queenstown following graduation from Otago Polytechnic's School of Hospitality and Tourism in 1991.  In the year's subsequent to Karen's experience in Queenstown, she went on to work for renowned Shotover Jet prior to moving to the USA in 1997.  Karen's experience in tourism since 1997 has included retail travel, wholesale travel operations management and ultimately, the formation of New Zealand Adventure Co. in April of 2001.  Karen's personal interest in fitness and outdoor environments has consistently played a significant role in the company's travel planning ethos - she is a passionate and knoweldgeable active travel expert with infectious enthusiasm for the countries New Zealand Adventure Co. works with.  Karen practices what she preaches when it comes to adventurous, active trips and has completed a number of adventure races including the Rotorua XTERRA; the Christchurch SBS Marathon, the 100 kilometre cycling event; Le Race, and the Big Blue Adventure Race in Half Moon Bay, California along with having hiked a multitude of New Zealand and Australia's most well-known (and some not so well-known) tracks.
